Caiman Ecological Refuge

Set on a 53,000-hectare working cattle ranch in the Southern Pantanal, Caiman has been a pioneer in Pantanal ecotourism since the mid-1980s. The main lodge, Casa Caiman, has 18 suites, a restaurant and bar, a swimming pool, a sauna, a gym, and a firepit. The property also offers two private villas which can be booked exclusively for small groups. Guided activities include safari drives in open 4x4 vehicles, night spotlighting, canoe trips, hiking, horseback riding, and birdwatching among approximately 350 registered species. The lodge is also home base for several active wildlife conservation initiatives, including Onçafari, a jaguar habituation and safari project, and the Hyacinth Macaw Institute, which has helped bring the species back from the endangered list.
